There are 2 aspects to Adsense pay, the first is about how the ads look, and the second is that where they are located. Google is not shy in offering advice to those criteria, and they are also happy to try out the effectiveness of the ad format, by the Adsense channels feature, which can be used for keeping track of various settings, and establish the fact that the performance best.
